Welcome to the third and penultimate newsletter. Next week’s newsletter will be a specific Race Briefing with links for each race. Please pay particular attention and share with your crew as the track side race briefing will be brief.
I would like to draw attention to turnarounds which will occur approximately every four hours, allowing for race starts etc. There will be an announcement prior to turning, then at the 200 metre point on the back straight there will be a cone staffed by a race official. The approach to the cone will be on the left, turn beyond the cone and stay to the left running/walking toward athletes on your right. This time is always good to see face on who is on the track and many high fives are exchanged.
During the whole race any timing questions can be text to the timing tent on 0403 230 406. We remind runners and crew not to hang around the timing tent.
The response to my music question has been varied, so we plan to have times with and without music also with and without radio. On Saturday morning we plan to have a live cross to ABC 666 radio so will be tuning in for that.
Access to the track will be between 3-7 pm Thursday 17th for registration and look around. On Friday 18th gates open at 9am for ALL to set up for the weekend. 48hr entrants please have a good sleep in.
On Friday 18th at 11:15 am there will be an athletes introduction by ABC 666 radio host Greg Bayliss, this will be followed promptly at 11:30 by Welcome to Country, Race Director brief, MLA Yvette Berry Minister for Sport and Recreation, PCFA Representative, a short piece of music followed by a minutes silence finishing at 11:55.
Chairs will be provided for athletes to use during the opening ceremony and it is planned to be close to the toilets for convenience.
One last thought, with the long range weather forecast varying considerably remember there is no bad weather just poor clothing choices!
See you at the track!
